New parade information is now available

Ready for the parade?

Parade Chair Angie Winkel has been working hard to assemble new information for 2012.  At our last Committee meeting, we decided to change the route this year.  It will now start at Shoreview’s southernmost boundary, at Victoria Street and County Road D and then go north on Victoria, ending up at the entrance to Island Lake County Park.  Of course, that means we’ll be lining up in a different area as well.  The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection is allowing us to use their parking lot to help stage the parade.  Parade participants should park their cars at Deluxe Corp across the street from the Slice, then take a shuttle bus to the lineup area.  More details are on the Slice website, as well as a map and applications.

Latest news, 3/13/2012

A couple of weeks have passed and much has happened as the Slice of Shoreview Days Committee continues to work on this year’s event.  The Taste of Slice, held on February 23rd, was the most successful ever with fantastic food offerings from 12 Shoreview-area restaurants.  The money raised there from donations, raffles and games will go a long way toward funding the fireworks shows this summer.

The Committee met again last Tuesday and important decisions were made regarding the parade route and the car & motorcycle show.  Parade Chair Angie Winkel is working on revising the guidelines for the parade to include a rain-cancellation policy and best ways to keep up-to-date on parade status if inclement weather should develop.  Dan and Mary Rustad are also working on some improvements for the car & motorcycle show – new competitive categories, prizes and concessions.  More details to be presented here when they become available.

Steve Piper is also continuing his work on the Slice website.  More and more information is being posted as it is developed.  Stay tuned for more in the weeks ahead…

Final Preparations for Taste of Slice

Over the past few weeks, the Committee has been preparing the kick-off event for this year’s Slice of Shoreview Days, the Taste of Slice, to be held Thursday, February 23rd.  Thirteen Shoreview-area restaurants will be featured with samples from their menus, and drawings will be held for a variety of merchandise and services valued between $50 and $1,000.

Complete details are on the Slice website at http://www.sliceofshoreview.com/taste.html.

Slice Committee reconvenes for 2012

The New Year has arrived and the Slice Committee is already hard at work. First order of business is a slight modification of our name. We are rebranding the event to be known as Slice of Shoreview Days. Chairperson Jacci Krebsbach and crew are meeting regularly to settle details for this July’s event. We’ll be posting developments here and on Twitter as they happen.

Steve Piper is also working on the website and application forms are available there for all areas. Just go to http://www.sliceofshoreview.com and click on Sign-up Forms at the top of the any page.
